Hand-Cranked Rib Socks

Local knitting maestro Kurt Payne has crafted a collection of hand-cranked New Zealand wool blend socks for Karen Walker. In splendid jewel tones, the socks are made on Kurt’s vintage Legare 47 sock knitting machine. Over 90 years old, the Legare 47 is a fine example of century-old technology and timeless craft. The wool yarn is from a boutique farm and spinning mill in Waituna West, New Zealand, utilising the silky soft fleece of their homegrown Corriedale flock.

Kurt Payne is based in Auckland, New Zealand. He has been knitting for over 30 years and also teaches spinning, knitting, weaving and dyeing.
